Citizens - identify yourselves !

It seemed a good way to counter the royal compulsion to glorify themselves with titles of rank and style. I take pride each time I sign off with my own title - - citizen Hoyle

My visible citizenship is a personal accolade. It is my right. I use it as a superior and more honourable style than any of the suffocating catalogue of class titles.

Your - grace, majesty, honour, highness, lordship, all to me identify players in the pantomime of our disfigured social structure: The stars in our national soap opera - The legacy of our incomplete social reforms. Their pompous titles tell it all while my chosen title simply elevates humility and me to a superior class - One with my fellow citizens.

I urge fellow citizens to adapt the challenging title in their own right. Like me use it particularly as their email address. Tell the world that they are of the people - not set apart from their compatriots - we are citizens in an electoral democracy. . - not subjects of a defunct monarchy. CitizenSmith lives again! Let citizens Blair, Duncan-Smith and Kennedy vote for us as we vote for them - before they are inflicted with a Lordship or an Earldom even!

If a growing body of Republicans visibly adapted the distinction of citizenship in every email message they sign - the effect would be cumulative and purposeful. We would each signal a message loud and clear. “ I reject unelected domination by monarchy -we want a Republic!”

So fellow Republicans-follow me citizenhoyle@btinternet.com
